Life is a struggle in of itself … contending with a metabolism that will just not cooperate with you no matter what you do to lose those extra pounds is enough to drive anyone absolutely bonkers. Losing weight can be a nightmare.
What contributes to this nightmare? Well, it depends on the individual. A simple blood test could disclose whether you are experiencing a thyroid problem or diabetes. Undue stress, a high count of toxins in your body, resistance to insulin, after effects of a hysterectomy and the dreaded stages of menopause can all be factors. If you have the slightest inclination one of these might be the underlining cause, make an appointment with your primary physician and get yourself checked out right away. Otherwise, you may be looking at a change in your lifestyle or, your eating habits.
Making the commitment to try and lose weight will require some major adjustments in your life. Call upon the support of your circle of friends and family to help you get over those humps that always seem to get in your way. Ask someone to walk with you after dinner, work out at the gym or, take a class in aerobics, yoga or dance to burn off those extra calories. Knowing that it will take time and some patience on your part, is the first important step. It took you a while to gain the weight, and it certainly will not melt away overnight.
Foods you are digesting could also be a major reason for why your metabolism is burning in slow gear. Your body will most certainly add on the pounds if you do not eat the foods that will increase body heat to turn the food you have consumed into energy. The quickest way to rev up your metabolism is eating foods high in complex carbohydrates, fiber, and vitamins.
If you are of the mentality that cutting out a meal and decreasing your caloric intake will help you lose weight, it is farther from the truth, especially if you have a slow metabolism to begin with. This only makes your body work harder storing energy for later when it needs it. Changing your mindset, what you eat and when you eat it, will make your body function like the burning machine it is meant to.
The most important meal of the day is a healthy breakfast as it kicks your metabolism into jump start and along with regular daily exercise, you are creating a win-win situation. Remember, exercise does not have to be strenuous to make a difference. It could be as simple as walking three to four times a week. Once you put all of these easy solutions together, you will see that knowing and understanding how your metabolism works is not a nightmare after all.
